Early Head Start is a comprehensive program serving families with children from birth to age 3 and women who are pregnant. The program mission is to promote positive prenatal outcomes for women, to enhance the growth and development of young children, and to support and strengthen healthy family development. Services are offered at no cost to eligible families.

The Early Head Start Program is a comprehensive, community-based program serving families with children from birth to age 3 and women who are pregnant. The program mission is to promote positive prenatal outcomes for women, to enhance the growth and development of young children, and to support and strengthen healthy family development. Services are offered at no cost to eligible families.  Early Head Start provides early childhood education and learning in families' homes, quality licensed child care centers, and in family resource centers located in Alexander, Burke, and Caldwell Counties.  Early Head Start also promotes the health and well being of children and adults.  Our programs help families find medical and dental homes to help stay current on health needs.  Services include:  Developmental Screenings, Assistance with well baby checks and medical follow-up as needed; Immunization checks; and Assistance in accessing vision, dental and hearing screenings.  Early Head Start is a federally funded program serving eligible children and families.
